It does not however limit the nose for this one function. There are many others like it, essential to assist breathing. Indeed, the nose is the first part of the airways. The air that we breathe through our lungs enters through the nostrils in the anterior part of nasal cavity, two cavities, which also communicate with the back of the pharynx. Inside the pits, the cold outside air is warmed and humidified.
