Definition of cardiovascular disease

Cardiovascular diseases are those relating to heart problems and circulatory system. They are also known as heart. They also include the stroke, but fall in a somewhat unusual shade so it has its own section on the Web.

Symptoms of heart disease

Although in some cases no symptoms just telling us it is true that our body normally tells us with symptoms of a heart attack.

The most common are:
* Chest pain, sometimes just a nuisance but it radiates to the arms, especially the left, and even the jaw.

Walnuts help type 2 diabetes patients

Researchers from the Prevention and Research Center Yale-Griffin, Yale University (USA), ensure that a diet rich in walnuts helps improve endothelial function in patients with type 2 diabetes by encouraging, therefore, better cardiovascular health, according to results of a study published in the latest issue of the journal Diabetes Care.

Previous studies have shown the benefits of eating nuts for heart health but few studies had focused on patients with diabetes. On this occasion, these experts analyzed the evolution of 24 adults who consumed an average of 56 grams daily for eight weeks, then continue with their usual diet over eight weeks. (more…)

Eating chocolate may lower the risk of stroke

The consumption of chocolate may reduce risk of stroke, according to a study from McMaster University in Hamilton (Canada) that was announced during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology which was held in Toronto.

Another study found that eating chocolate may lower the risk of death after a stroke. The authors explain that chocolate is rich in antioxidants called flavonoids, which may have a protective effect against stroke but more research is needed. (more…)

It is important that those who suffer from this disease have a varied diet and integral containing plenty of fruits and vegetables, preferably raw, grains, legumes, nuts, seaweed, sea fish and quality virgin oils. As for the red and white-meat, milk and eggs should contain as little fat as possible and be consumed in moderation.
